Audio Technica ATLP120 also includes a selectable internal stereo phono preamplifier and a USB output that connects directly to your computer–perfect for digitizing your old LPs to high-quality MP3 or FLAC files for playback from your computer. USB cable and adapter cables are included, along with Mac- and PC-compatible Audacity software to digitize your LPs.

The AT-LP120′s S-shaped tone arm assembly comes with an adjustable counterweight, an antiskate adjustment, a tone-arm height adjustment and lock, a tone-arm lift with hydraulic action and lift lever, and a tone-arm rest with a locking mechanism to keep the arm stable during transport.

I’ve been using ATLP120 for about 2 weeks. I wanted to put a little time before initially using it and writing a review. When I took it out of the box and set it up, I was thrilled. This is the most expensive turntable I’ve owned, all my others being cheap plastic turntables. I am not an audiophile, and if you are looking for that, this _might_ not be what you’re looking for. But I don’t have all that much to compare it with when it comes to the sound. All I know is that to my standards, it sounds GREAT!!! The turntable is nice and heavy. I haven’t heard any noise from the direct drive motor. I have not heard any hum or any noise from it at all. Every thing worked correctly once I set it up, which was relatively painless. AT LP120 USB also works perfectly in regards to recording LPs to my computer. I’ve recorded quite a few already and I’m very happy with the results.

The ATLP120 more than satisfies my needs for digitizing my LP’s. The USB connection does not come through as loud as it should and I had to turn the volume way up to compensate which created a hum in the background. My solution to this problem was to run a connection from the output of my receiver, to which the turntable was connected, into the microphone input of my laptop. Then the volume was more than adequate.

I found the Audacity recording software to be very clumsy to use. Having to create a new project every time I wanted to record a track was bothersome and time consuming. I am using Polderbits recording software which I find far superior to Audacity. ATLP120 has excellent and easy to use filtering and quickly converts the recordings to a WAV file. If you are going to spend $200 on a turn table it is wise to spend the extra money for good recording software.
